Exchanging Links Between Websites

I think one of the best compliments a website owner can give to another website owner, is to ask for a link exchange from that website owner. In my view, it shows that the website owner (doing the asking) wants to be a part of your world...made up of your ideas; your thoughts and imagination; your writing, graphics and creativity, etc.

As far as marketing a website, I don't think anyone has come up with a definitive answer for a successful market campaign on the Internet. It's probably a combination of many ideas and everyone will have to choose their own way of marketing their website, depending on their likes, dislikes, interests and circumstances, etc.

As we all know, the gold rush ended rather quickly for the dot.com's of a few years ago, and we can all learn from their experiences. There's no easy way to drive traffic to a website! Tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of thousands of dollars were poured into website business at that time...and not many people showed up...SEE YA!

TIME...it's going to take a little TIME! Television and cable-television just didn't fall out of the sky and become successful...it took TIME! When I was growing up in the 1950's, my family didn't own a television set because they were too expensive. Commerce on the Internet is going to take some TIME to get established as well.

I remember back in the Stone Age (2003) when I got started, I would go to the Community Center at Homestead (Host) and sign guest books to market my website, and I came across this website, where this fellow had a big sign posted on his Front Page, which read, "If I don't get more traffic to my website...I'm NOT going to keep updating it every week?" I wonder if that fellow still has a website!

Writing articles is my primary way to market my website, not because I'm interested in feeding the ever-hungry search engines, and throwing them an adjective or two to munch on, but I love to write articles. And, getting my articles published on other websites or newsletters/ezines, is one of the best compliments a writer can get. But, the other way I have chosen to market my website, is by exchanging links with other website owners, so I need all the help I can get!
